My intention is to use this blog of JesusDaybyDay to do some recording of day by days As I pursue the Catalyst training with Identity Exchange. Identity Exchange hosts their training on Kajabi. Kajabi is a social learning / consulting platform that has all sorts of features. Identity Exchange Catalys has a private chat feature associated with their courses so that you can correspond with people in the same course that you are in. After I posted about 5 posts to that and there were not any other participants posting so prolifically, I decided that I would blog here, and reference there.
I am excited about all that God is doing in my daily days, and really this is a better place to share that excitement.
First, I want to give you some references, for following along. (Note, this is not an infomercial for Identity Exchange. It is just like a lot of things, some background helps.)
First , if you know absolutely nothing about Identity Exchange or Jamie and Donna Winship, then probably the place to start is to either search for Jamie and Donna Winship on Youtube, or go to the Identity Exchange Youtube channel which has a lot of free material there. That is basically how I unintentionally started. I just saw podcast interview of Jamie Winship, and I liked what I heard.
Jamie and Donna Winship really seemed to live out the love of God in personalized ways. And the main way that they show God’s love is to show people how to get rid of limiting world views, and false identities, And really connect with Jesus, To understand how they have been uniquely made. An inseparable part of discovering the identity Jesus has created for us, is how he relates to that identity. There is a lot of unburdening of angry God narratives, distant God narratives, performance oriented narratives along the way. They lead you in a way that you can begin to receive the delight that God has in you. And they did this in some of the most high conflict places on the planet.
Who is Jaime Winship? The beginning (Heaven Meets Earth podcast) (1 hr 20 minutes)
Red Haired Girl From Starbucks (The Deep End w/ Taylor Welch) (Starts part way into a 2 hour 37 minute interview. The whole interview is great, but the account of the red haired girl is a favorite. Jaime Winship has been on The Deep End w/ Taylor Welch three times, I believe, for over 6 hours of interviews. This particular one also shows the humanity of Jaime, in that the Lord tells thim that he is going to fall, and he trusts the Lord with it. And is open to the humility in it. Donna is also amazing in her love and support for Jaime through it all, but even more for her trust in the Lord while it is happening.
The Heaven Meets Earth Podcast did 2 shows with Jaime and Donna where they speak of the faithfulness of Jesus (and the direction of Jesus) in life and death situations. (Each about 50 minutes long). They also emphasize something that is in their recent teachings, about worldviews, and what happens if you see yourself always connected with God (and having enough), or if you are separated, and see scarcity in the world.
Hearing God in Life-or-Death Moments with Jamie & Donna Winship
Hearing God in Life-or-Death Moments (Part 2) with Jaime & Donna Winship
I may add to this list, as the Life or Death moments are exciting, and testify to their living out their trust in God. But there as so many other stories on the Identity Exchange YouTube channel and in other interviews that also reflect God’s caring for individuals. I will try to find the links to the links for how The Lord cared for a daughter of a custodian at the International School where Jaime taught in Indonesia. The account of how the Lord opened the doors for a Palestinian to get a driver’s license in Israel is also moving in an intimate way.
So I am participating in the Becoming What You Believe course to get into asking Jesus about identity. This will be a frequent topic here. Though, my experience may not be typical of what people normally experience. I came into the course having had more interactions with Jesus surrounding my identity (I am 72, He has had 50 years.) And one thing that is part of the previous posts here that is part of the “nickname” or “internal identity” is that I also had a memory in the 99th percentile, a genius range IQ, considerable courage, and the Lord humbling me through two main experiences.
The first was when I was a relatively new Christian, and I wanted to love Him more. Holy Spirit guided me to a verse that speaks of an increase of love. It is Prov 9:8 which says in part “reprove a wise man and he will love you.” When He showed me that, I thought “Sweet, I can ask for wisdom”, having Jas 1:5 being brought to mind. “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” So, I prayed for wisdom first, and then for reproof for a while. He was faithful and answered those prayers. I have to say that after a while I stopped praying that way regularly.
The other thing was the time that the Lord told me, and showed me that I was “profoundly ignorant” in His words. That is chronicled over at profoundlyignorant.com But, an important part of that experience was when The Lord asked me “Who are the only people who are not concerned about their ignorance?” The answer is “Little Children”. Little children without significant trauma, will know that they don’t know, but believe and trust that Mommy or Daddy does know. And that is part of the thought in Matt 18:1-3
At that time the disciples came to Jesus and said, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
And He called a child to Himself and set him before them, and said, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
So, I am somewhat extreme in parts of my makeup, and God has given me the gift of walking with me on the path of perspective, and humility.
So, when I was complaining (whining) to The Lord about being abnormal / weird, and all of the social problems and isolation (loneliness) that was in my life, He told me that He preferred to call me His “Limited Edition” rather than “Weird”, and in the process of discussing this internal “nickname” with some of the other participants in the “Becoming What You Believe” course, the Lord expanded it a little “Limited Edition – Carefully crafted, and specialized” So some of my experiences will be the Limited Edition – Carefully crafted, and specialized version.
