Identity Exchange Daily Prayer of Affirmation (Part 1)

My “Day By Day”s with Jesus for a while will be about my walk including the Becoming What You Believe course. They have a book published by the same name. What the book includes is the handouts in the course, plus journaling areas when there is an assignment. So it is truly a workbook.

I prefer to have my information available online, or electronically. The only thing that I want to be cautious about is to not violate “Fair Use” provisions, and definitely to not take away from their book revenue. Some people would call their materials annointed. I just have to say that even with some exposure to various traditions and denominations, I don’t really have a clear concept of what “annointed” really is. I CAN say that while going through their course, on the way to Catalyst, that Holy Spirit is really opening me to a lot of revelation as to Who God is, who I am/who He has made me to be, and our growing relationship, which includes a lot of truth telling (confession in the Winship’s terminology) A side note: I am a little less good at understanding the Trinity than I am at understanding annointing. But, I am coming to know Him/Them.

OK. So, part of Module 1 (Becoming Alive) is the topic “Wonder”, and that is where they introduce the “Daily Prayer of Affirmation”, which is available by giving them your name and email address, and is available on their App for iPhone/iOS and Android.

In the book, they list the Scriptural foundations for the prayer. John 1; Psalm 118;1 1 Corinthians 2:16; Matthew 6:10; John 14 20, 16:7 ; Matthew 16:19; Acts 2

So I read the Daily Prayer of Affirmation. I’m not really big on reading prayers. But as I read it, I am impressed. They seemed to cover the relationship that God is establishing with us well. I have felt free to add certain things, and Holy Spirit has felt free as well to give me insight into some of the things that I’m saying. Overall, it is a great start to my day. But after a while, I decided to go back and read the scripture references. As I read them, I knew which parts of the prayer they supported. But also as I read them, Holy Spirit deepened my understanding of those scriptures, adding as well, a new way of Reading scriptures overall.

I will get into that in more detail in the next post. For now I encourage you to find a way of understanding a lot more of the background to what I’m going to share. The workbook for Becoming What You Believe course is a great resource, and includes the Daily Prayer of Affirmation on page 17. But there are the app, and the email ways of getting it as well

In the book, there is so much more than the daily prayer of affirmation. All sorts of useful exercises. Ways to ignite your imagination. Ways to surrender your imagination to the Lord to use for his kingdom, as well as your enlightenment. So I highly, highly recommend it.

The next post will be a dive into some of the scriptures behind the daily Prayer of Affirmation
